My 1st visit to the Pediatric dentist

At that first appointment the young patient (ages 1-18) meets the pediatric dentist, the rest of the staff and gets acquainted with the dental office and the dental equipment.

Then, a full medical and dental history is taken with the aid of the parent. The dental examination follows and the dentist will have a look at the patient’s teeth, gums, jaws, and occlusion. If it is appropriate x-rays will be taken and the teeth will be cleaned and polished. A professional application of fluoride might also be necessary.

The pediatric dentist will discuss with you any questions you might have and will instruct your child how to brush his/her teeth. Diet advice will also be given and an individual program of dental prevention will be designed to meet the needs of the patient.

The appointment will last 45 – 60 minutes.
